Thumbs Down on Air Cleaners

Do you really think that there is a perfect air freshener that will ionize the air? Well according to one consumer there is no such thing. There is not anything that can perfectly clean the air in your house. So it is recommended not to fork out the cash for these expensive air fresheners? Do you think that there is an air freshener that can do that?

You don't need to make all the customers happy, just the ones that have money to spend.

I watched a broadcast on this issue and was very surprised to find out that these things really don't clean the air. the fact is 5 out of 7 air freasheners tested, did not clean the air at all. They all released the chemical ozone that if concentrated enough can make you sick. Still some people with allergies say that it helps them a lot. I guess it's up to you.

I also saw that story about the air fresheners and I think that they may work, but not as well as most people think. There may be some benefits, but I wouldn't ever consider buying one, I don't see the need.

I don’t know if there is such an air freshener on the market but if there were people with allergies would probably pay a lot of money for it. I think there is something to be said about making one person happy; if you can convince them they will sell the product by word of mouth.

-1 on Ace's comment for grammatical errors.

I think Mack and Rex have the right attitude (although perhaps not an ethical one). If people have a high reservation price for this product, someone will supply it to them. Ideally, there is some warranty or money-back guarantee, but caveat emptor.

I agree, no air purifier can completely clean the air to zero particles unless you have a cleanroom environment. Completely sealed off room, no cross ventilation, etc.. However, you can significantly reduce the amount of allergens in a room by either using UV light in your HVAC system to kill mold, viruses and bacteria AND by using a medical grade air purifier. These IQAir ones were the only ONLY ones to be approved for use during the SARS outbreak, they air completely airtight and use several technologies to clean the air. Mind you, using just one will only work in a room about the size of a bedroom, and the door must be closed to help reduce the amount of air coming in from other rooms. Indoor air is 5 to 100 times more polluted than outdoor air, due to lack of proper ventilation, filtration, and circulation. Any air purifier company will tell you they can't reduce the amount of particles in the air to zero; however they can reduce the amount of particles that cause respiratory problems.

This is a very nice site. I was out looking for "echo air purification systems" and found your blog in the process.

Best of luck.

Dr Tufte said if people have a high reservation price for this product, someone will supply it to them. Some people can and will sell anything to anyone. People should research products before purchase.

Research raises your reservation price too.
