McDonalds 50th Anniversary Invites Reflections on a Brand Icon

What comes to mind if you are a kid of age 4-12, and asked where you would like to eat? McDonalds, or would think that would be it. Because it targets young families with children with toys in happy meals, another reason is because it has been around for 50 years and established its name. It was the first fast food restaurant that gave moms inspiration, so they could have a break from cooking. The question is do you think that it is well established enough to be around for another 50 years?

I think that it will be around, but I definately think other fast food chains will also begin to dominate more, maybe even becoming more popular than McDonald's one day.

McDonalds is an American icon. It is as synonymous with Americans as apple pie and baseball. I do not think it is a great place to eat, but if you need food fast and don’t care what it tastes like, McDonalds is the place.

Since children will still be around in the next 50 years, McDonalds will still be around.

-1 on Fred's and Rex's comments for spelling and grammatical errors.

I wonder about this. Fifty years is a long time. Think about all the big consumer product names from 50 years ago that are no longer around or prominent: Nash, Studebaker, Ovaltine, Tang (and that's only 40 years), the 45 and LP, Pan Am, TWA, Bell Labs, and so on.
