Life Expectancy

Would you believe that people are now living longer? Well of course you would because of all the new technology that there is today. It is said that heart disease, strokes, and cancer have all been declining. The average life expectancy rose to a record 77.6 in the year 2003 from 77.3. What are some other reasons that you believe people are living longer?

I think education is a primary reason why more people are living longer. People understand the benefits of exercise and are able to obtain jobs and lead to healthier lives. Of course economics has to be involved here but I am not sophisticated in the discipline to see a correlation maybe Professor Tufte may know.

Life expectancy will probably start dropping in another 50 years. Technology will take us only so far. Kids just sit home, play nintendo, eat chips, and get fatter. I can't see this generation making it past 60 years.

I think that we now have more information about health risks and just know more than in the past. But I agree that if we don't start using the things we know, those numbers may start dropping again.

At least I am not the only one searching for the ManEc here.

Not only are people living longer, they're living healthier too. There is no realistic basis for the fears of Homer and Fred.
