More People Need Guns

For many years people have tried to make it politically incorrect to carry a gun. In the past few months we have heard of many shootings in our country. Because of these incidents many will cry for more restrictions on guns. In reality wouldn't more guns in the hands of the people be a better deterrent than regulation. The article "Gun Control: Shootings kindle concealed-weapons debate" debates these issues. If every person who went on a shooting spree were met by ten others who shot back wouldn't that be a better deterrent.

Everyone should own a gun. Either that or quit complaining that everyone else has one.

I don't agree with that at all. Why would you confront the problem with the same problem? That would just give more people the right to say, "Well, he pulled a gun on me, so I shot him". Not very smart to have everyone wandering around with guns, especially since there are so many deranged people who if they lose their temper, could use that excuse to shoot someone. You don't solve gun violence with guns.

Fred, these deranged people would be be quickly shot. I think you would have a lot less deranged people walking the streets. Possibly because these deranged people are not really deranged at all they just use that as an excuse because they know they will not get a harsh enough penalty in the United States.

I should've sent you all to John Lott's convocation.

Anyway, there is a lot of information out there, mostly on the pro-gun-control side of things.

One important issue is that the U.S. has always had a high murder rate, and that has been statistically linked to a history of lax enforcement, rather than guns.
